finger-knit chunky blanket

You bring the supplies. I’ll provide the guide, support + space. No experience needed. No needles - we’ll use chunky yarn and our fingers.

  • What you’ll make:
    Approx. 48” x 35” small throw blanket

  • What you’ll need:
6 skeins (28 yds each) of chunky yarn or jumbo blanket yarn (jumbo size 7)

Choosing yarn:
For chenille, the pattern notes recommend Joann’s Bernat Blanket Extra Thick, Michaels Bernat Blanket Big, or Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee Eternal Bliss.
For cotton, I ordered Amazon’s GULAKY Chunky Giant Cotton Tube Yarn Super Soft Thick in 8lb; and STARINGIRL Super Chunky Yarn Cotton Yarn in 2.2lb (x5). Since these are sold by the pound, they suggest at least 6-10 pounds to make a blanket approximately the size listed above. (1 used 10lbs to make the navy blanket in the photo). Of course, the size will vary for each person because we are working with our hands and not a specific needle size, various textures, materials, yardage per skein, etc.
The Pattern suggests using 1 solid color as opposed to multi-color or tie dye yarn for beginners, as it may be difficult to see and find the loops. But up to you.
You can use multiple solid colors - either 2, 3 or 6 colors (make sure you have 6 skeins total) to create a color block blanket.

$35 each, please note: you must sign up at least 24 hours in advance so I can purchase your pattern. You provide your own yarn + byob
